AN EXPLANATION OF THE USA SWIMMING MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

As a member of USA Swimming, all of our swimmers must have some type of USA Swimming membership.

USA Swimming is rolling out a new portal to register its memebers. Since you will be doing this yourself, here's a quick explanation on what your options are when signing up.

Premium Membership: This is the normal annual membership.  This membership runs until December 31, 2023.  There are no meet restrictions.  Cost is set by USA Swimming and our LSC (Middle Atlantic). This category is what most swimmers use.

Flex Membership: This is the new membership category.   This membership also runs until December 31, 2013. There are restrictions, however.  A swimmer registered on the Flex Membership can only participate in 2 USA Swimming-sanctioned meets. If they wish to participate in more than two of these meets, then he will have to upgrade to a Premium Membership. Also, no swimmer can participate in a Championship Level meet (i.e. Junior Olympic, Silver Championships)

Upgrading from the Flex Membership: A swimmer who starts on a Flex Membership may upgrade to a Premium Membership by paying the difference between the two memberships at any given point during the season.
