Stef Bonis
Stef Bonis grew up and continues to reside in Newark with her husband and 3 daughters.  Stef began swimming competitively at the age of 5 at Three Little Bakers Swim Club.  She swam at the Western Y during the winter months from age 7-18.  Stef attended the University of Delaware where she majored in nursing and was a member of the UD women’s rowing team from ‘00-‘04.  She currently works as a school nurse at Newark Charter.
 
Stef began coaching swimming at Southern Chester County Y when she was in college.   She most recently coached at Western Y and is an assistant coach at Nottingham Green during the summer.
 
In her free time, Stef loves spending time with her family and friends.  She also enjoys running and watching sports! Stef is excited to coach and assist to develop BHA into the best it can be!
Shawn Markey
Shawn Markey joins the Blue Hen Aquatics coaching staff with over 20 years of experience coaching swimmers at all levels, from beginning toddlers to Olympic Trials. He has over 10 years of experience coaching at the Age Group level, as well as almost 10 years at the NCAA Division I collegiate level. More recently, Shawn has coached two successful seasons at the Western YMCA, where in 2023 his swimmers won 23 events at their Y District Championship Meet and broke 13 team records. Shawn began his swimming career for a summer league team in his hometown of Orange, Va. He began his year-round USA swimming career at the age of 13, and within 4 years held USA Top 16 designations for several events. Shawn qualified for and competed in his first senior Eastern Zones Spring Championship in 1994 and won the 50 free at the Eastern Zones Championship in 1995. Shawn competed at his first Junior Nationals Championship in 1995 and his first Senior Nationals Championship in 1997. Shawn competed all 4 years collegiate years at Drexel University and was co-captain of the men's America East Conference Championship team in 2001. After college, Shawn enjoyed competing as a US Masters swimmer and Xterra Off-Road Triathlete. Shawn and his wife Alicia have been Delaware residents for 22 years and have 4 children: Aaron, Ella, Alivia and Liam. .
Pablo Marmolejo
Coach Pablo has coached all level of swimming. From Learn-To-Swim to college programs. In the three years prior to getting his current position at UD, Marmolejo has managed daily operations of the Delaware Swim Team, which earned Top-35 national rankings by the USA Swimming’s Club of Excellence Rating program three times. During his time as the head coach and program director, he coached swimmers to the USA National Junior Team, the USA Olympic Trials and the World Championship Trials. Prior to his time at DST, Coach Pablo served as an assistant and the recruiting director for three seasons (2012-2015) at UD. He began his college coaching at his alma mater, West Virginia, where he served as a graduate assistant from 2009-2011.
Craig Young
Coach Craig is currently the Health and Physical Education teacher at Newark Charter Primary School. Craig was born and raised in Newark, DE and graduated from Glasgow High School in 2007. While attending high school, Craig played lacrosse and swam, and was honored with 3 years of 1st Team All-State and 2 State Championships in the 100-yard backstroke. Upon graduating, Craig was offered a scholarship to swim at the University of Delaware under head coach John Hayman, and went on to earn 2 years of All-CAA honors. Craig coached swimming at Delaware Military Academy for 9 years, and was head coach for 6 of those years. Craig has been a State and Conference coach of the year. He enjoys bringing his valuable experience and upbeat coaching style to Nottingham Green. Craig, his wife Amanda (who grew up as a part of the Nottingham Swim Club), and their two young daughters live in the Oaklands neighborhood.
Bella Granetzke
Bella isfrom Madison, Wisconsin. She's been swimming for 14 yearsand have been coaching for 3. She is majoring in Kinesiology and minoring in Disability Studies at the University of Delaware. Back at home, Bella coaches for the Seminole Sharks and this is her first year coaching with Blue Hen Aquatics
